Build quality through standards; move forward together.
As China's National Day approaches, Zhejiang Kepu Enterprise Management Consulting Co., Ltd. sends warm wishes to our clients, partners and colleagues, and to everyone working in production, quality, environmental management and occupational health and safety.
On the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, we celebrate the dedication behind every carefully managed process and dependable delivery. Build quality through standards; move forward together.
After the holiday, the fourth quarter brings delivery commitments, customer audits and annual objectives into focus. Here are six practical areas for organizations to review against their own certification scope and audit programme.
01 | Put certificate and audit dates on the calendar
Maintain a register of standards, certified scopes, certification bodies, expiry dates and audit schedules, with a named owner for each item.
A certificate within its validity period does not remove the obligation to undergo surveillance on time.
Allow sufficient time for recertification, corrective action and any required verification. CNCA's official QMS guidance explains that failing to complete the recertification on-site audit or verification of major nonconformities before expiry affects certification continuity. A booking alone is not completion. Official guidance
02 | Distinguish certification rules from standard revisions
China's revised quality management system certification rules took effect on 1 January 2026. Revised rules for five management system fields, including environmental and occupational health and safety management, took effect on 1 March 2026. Confirm the applicable rules and documentation with your certification body. QMS announcement · Five-system announcement
ISO lists ISO 9001:2026 and ISO 14001:2026 as published. Review the new editions, identify relevant gaps and obtain the applicable transition arrangements before planning document changes and audits. ISO 9001 · ISO 14001
Publication does not mean every existing certificate immediately becomes invalid, nor does it establish a universal October deadline. Confirm certificate status, certification criteria, accreditation requirements and transition dates against formal arrangements and written guidance from your certification body.

03 | Build evidence from real operations
Review year-to-date objectives, customer feedback, supplier performance, inspection results and nonconformity records. Conduct internal audits and management reviews at planned intervals, adjusting priorities to changes and risks.
Trace an actual issue from identification through cause analysis, action and effectiveness verification. Records should reflect work that really happened. Explain and correct omissions honestly; do not backdate or fabricate evidence.
04 | Check changes against the certified scope
Relocation, additional sites, capacity expansion, new products or processes and changes to outsourced activities may affect system boundaries and audit arrangements. Review responsibilities and competence when key people change.
Keep a change register and discuss reporting or additional assessment needs with your certification body. Ensure website, tender and customer-facing certificate information matches the current valid status and scope.
05 | Review restart readiness across quality, environment and safety
Where production stops and restarts, consider a risk-based check before resuming work:
Quality: equipment condition, measuring equipment validity, first-piece approval, material identification and changed job instructions.
Environment: pollution-control equipment, waste storage, operating records and applicable permit and monitoring requirements.
Occupational health and safety: safeguards, clear emergency routes, protective equipment, contractor activities and emergency contacts.
Tailor the checklist to the process and applicable requirements. Define corrective action and release conditions when an abnormality is found.
Organizations using IATF 16949 should also check applicable customer-specific requirements, performance feedback, sanctioned interpretations and FAQs. IATF Rules 6th Edition has been effective since 1 January 2025; do not assume a generic ISO 9001 preparation schedule is sufficient. Official announcement · Sanctioned interpretations
Review applicable customer requirement versions, process changes, control plans and supporting quality-tool records, then carry those requirements through to production and inspection.
An adaptable fourth-quarter plan
October — establish the baseline
check certificates, rules and versions; review restart readiness; assign audit and corrective-action owners.
November — close the gaps
carry out planned audits, management reviews and training, and verify the effectiveness of key actions.
December — connect improvement to next year
review objectives and customer feedback, complete necessary audit arrangements and plan resources and training.
This is an organizational suggestion, not a universal regulatory timetable. Bring activities forward where your actual audit dates or applicable requirements demand it.
